East Bay Hindu Temple is a non-profit place of worship serving Hindu families across Pittsburg and the greater East Bay. We are dedicated to keeping our traditions alive — through daily worship, the teaching of our scriptures, and joyful festivals that bring families together across generations.

Bhagwan Ram, Mata Sita, Lakshman & Hanuman ji
Bhagwan Ram — the seventh avatar of Vishnu and hero of the Ramayana — embodies dharma: truth, duty, and righteous living. He is worshipped with Mata Sita (virtue and devotion), his brother Lakshman (selfless service), and Hanuman ji at his feet. Praying to the Ram Darbar brings harmony to the home and courage to walk the right path.

Bhagwan Shiv, Mata Parvati & family
Bhagwan Shiv, the Mahadev, is the great transformer — worshipped as both cosmic yogi and loving householder. With Mata Parvati and their sons Ganesh and Kartikeya, the Shiv Parivar is the ideal divine family. Devotees offer jal and bel leaves, especially on Mondays and Maha Shivaratri.

The Divine Mother, worshipped through the year
The Divine Mother riding her lion is Shakti herself — the fierce, protective energy of the universe. She vanquishes negativity and evil, as in her victory over Mahishasura, while showering her children with a mother's love. Navratri's nine nights honour her nine forms.
श्री हनुमान जी
Protector and devoted servant of Shri Ram
Hanuman ji is the embodiment of bhakti — devotion, strength, and humility — and the greatest devotee of Shri Ram. Reciting the Hanuman Chalisa is said to remove fear and every obstacle. Tuesday is his day: join our Tuesday 6:30 PM Chalisa & Ramayana Path.

Remover of obstacles, worshipped first
The elephant-headed son of Shiv and Parvati is Vighnaharta — the remover of obstacles — and the lord of wisdom and new beginnings. Every pooja begins by invoking him. Offer modak and durva grass; Wednesdays and Ganesh Chaturthi are especially dear to him.

Divine love, devotion, and joy
Bhagwan Krishna — the eighth avatar of Vishnu, who gave the world the Bhagavad Gita — together with Shri Radha embodies the highest divine love and joy. Their worship through bhajan and kirtan fills the heart with sweetness, celebrated at Janmashtami and Holi.
Durga Maa and the Shiv Parivar show the temple's own murtis. The remaining niches show classic devotional artwork by Raja Ravi Varma (public domain) until each murti's photograph is added.
